What Is SmartDrain™?

SmartDrain™ is an integrated water management system that controls how and when water is released from the robot. Instead of remaining filled with water at the end of a cleaning cycle, the robot actively drains itself at the surface, reducing overall weight and improving handling. Created by Beatbot, SmartDrain™ is built into an industry-first floating architecture that allows the robot to transition between diving and floating states. How SmartDrain™ Works

Most pool cleaners operate in a fixed state. They are either weighted to stay on the pool floor or designed to float, with no ability to adapt once a cleaning cycle begins. This limits overall coverage and often results in a heavy, water-filled robot remaining at the bottom of the pool when cleaning ends.

SmartDrain™ introduces active buoyancy control through Beatbot’s dual-chamber floating system. Using a submarine-inspired design, an intelligent peristaltic pump precisely regulates the balance of air and water inside the robot, allowing it to adjust its position and weight in real time.

• During floor and wall cleaning Water is drawn into the chambers while air is released. The increased weight keeps the robot stable and firmly in contact with the pool floor and walls for consistent cleaning.

• When returning to the surface The process reverses. Air is drawn in and water is expelled through SmartDrain™, reducing weight and enabling the robot to rise smoothly to the surface.

This fully automatic transition allows the robot to move between deep cleaning and surface floating within a single cycle. Once cleaning is complete, it remains at the water surface near the pool edge, ready for easy retrieval.
